What’s New in Latapult’s GIS Software?

From civil engineers to utilities and economic development organizations, home builders to commercial developers, we serve a number of industry professionals with varying GIS needs. As we approached our latest update, we looked at our current solutions and focused on updating the most utilized tools within our platform to meet growing customer needs. Here’s a peek at what’s new:

Faster Property Searches

We have nearly 200 land stakeholder organizations conducting thousands of national property searches a week based on complex search criteria. To make this process even quicker, we’ve updated our search tools so customers can find property faster than ever before.

New Buildable Area Tool

In addition to enhancing our existing software features, we’re introducing users to new Latapult solutions. With our new buildable area tool, users are able to pick a property or draw their own boundary, and Latapult will compute a buildable area within that polygon, based upon the combination of slope, wetlands, soils, flood, protected lands and/or critical habitat data.

Improved Data Layers

With this release, users will get access to new data layers like large parcel breakdowns, including upland acres and percent slopes for more efficient property searches. We’ve also updated several layers with expanded data enhancements including:

  • Energy Transmission Lines/Substations
  • FEMA National Risk Index
  • Topography for Several States (NY, AL, ME, MI and TX)
  • Dynamic ACS Census (with Layer Explorer)
  • Additional Points of Interest

Fresh Look & Intuitive New Layout

To match our newly upgraded tools, we’ve also made our interface more intuitive so that all users, no matter how technologically savvy, can easily navigate our platform. This new layout makes it even easier to interact with data layers, project information and more. To complement this simplified interface, we’ve also updated our platform with a fresh look and modern feel.

How This Release Will Benefit Customers & Enhance Workflows

This Spring Release is making GIS more scalable for a variety of industries. With new tools and updated features, Latapult is providing users with even more enjoyable land mapping interactions that fit directly into existing workflows. For instance, land stakeholders conducting large property searches across the country can do so within seconds, ultimately enhancing productivity. Users are also able to filter even more layers using our new Explore feature that applies presets to refine data without having to run standard database searches.

Even with more layers and tools at hand, project management has never been easier. For example, with our new Buildable Area tool, project managers can now create and export a boundary that combines six of our most popular land layers to better visualize a buildable area of a property for their teams and clients.
